Technical Discovery
Learn what’s wrong and what to do about it, within two weeks.
One to two weeks on one problem we agree in writing. A senior technology leader finds the cause, names the risks and gives you a 30-day plan.
Start here when you need a decision before a hire.
- Your CTO left, and you’re not sure what to hire next.
- Delivery is slow, and you hear three different reasons.
- A platform, AI or build-vs-buy decision is due.
- Your board wants a clear technology plan.
What you get
A written report on the problem we agreed:
- 1 What’s actually wrong
- 2 What creates business risk
- 3 What to build, buy, fix or stop
- 4 What happens in the next 30 days
We walk your leadership team through it. You have three business days to comment. One round of changes is included.
How it runs
-
1
Calls
A first call with our founder, then 30–45 minutes with the technology lead. These calls scope the problem. The analysis itself is paid work.
-
2
Scope in writing
The problem, the result, timing and fee. Nothing starts before you sign.
-
3
Discovery
One to two weeks: interviews, access to systems and data, analysis.
-
4
Report
Findings, risks and a 30-day plan.

Your decision
Stop here, or continue with ongoing leadership under a separate agreement.
From youAbout [N] hours of your time, and access to the people and systems above.
The answer comes from the diagnosis.
The answer may be to:
- Change nothing
- Change how your team or CTO works
- Replace a vendor
- Hire a permanent CTO
- Bring in a fractional CTO or a specialist
- Start a separate transformation project
Our fee is the same whichever you choose.
The plan is yours to execute with your team, another firm or us.
What Discovery is not
Discovery covers the one problem we agreed. These are separate jobs:
- Security audit or penetration test
- Investor due diligence
- Line-by-line code review
If you need one of them, we’ll say so and help you scope it.
Who leads it
A senior technology leader with the right experience leads it. Our founder works on it too, as on every engagement. You meet the lead on a joint call before anything is signed.
Questions
- How is this different from a consultant’s report?
- We can stay to lead execution and hand over when it’s done. And we don’t sell the work we recommend.
- How much of my team’s time does it take?
- Mostly interviews at the start, about [N] hours for key people.
- Will you sign an NDA?
- Yes, before scoping.
- How soon can we start?
- Usually within [N] days of signing the scope.
